A Maundy Thursday miracle...??? You make the call...

"Christians are Easter people living in a Good Friday world."
(Anne Lamott)

So...I get a call today from another Priest in our Diocese (Father Bob Hammond)...and he asks me if I would be willing to make a hospital call in order to give an older couple (involved in a nasty car crash recently) their Easter Communion in Hollister (CA) when I am up there this weekend.

I said, "Sure, of course, Father...but I think that I may have to go to by St. Mary's to retrieve the Blessed Sacrament, as I (thought) my pyx was empty..." (A pyx, for those of you who don't know, is a small, round container made of precions metals that is used to hold and transport consecrated Hosts for giving Holy Communion outside of Mass)

When I got home, I looked up in my office by my prayer altar and, thank God, I found that my pyx was full.

Instead of calling Fr. Hammond back to just *tell* him, I thought I'd snap a picture without a caption and send it to him.  I took this picture with my Blackberry camera to show him that "all was well".

I'll leave any mystical significance contained within this picture to you...

Happy Maundy Thursday, the birthday of the Mass and the Holy Priesthood.

  1. "WOW" is right. This is an incredible image of a pyx with holy consecrated hosts.
